Recommended Vivarium Size: A 10 gallon aquarium is suitable for 2-3 frogs.  They prefer a vertical habitat with access to water.

Temperature: Range of 65 F to 80 F, but prefer temperatures in the low to mid 70s. Temperatures over 85 F are dangerous.

Humidity: Range of 70 – 100%, but can tolerate humidity down to 50% for short periods of time if the frogs have access to water. Low humidity levels, especially without access to water, can quickly be fatal.  Starry Night Reed Frogs can be found in the areas between land and water.

Size: Adult females are approximately 1.5 inches.  Male reed frogs are smaller about 1 inch at maturity.

Life-Span: Starry Night Reed Frogs are capable of living well 5 years in captivity under ideal conditions, although a lifespan of 2-3 years is more common.

Feeding: Starry Night reed frogs eat Drosphilia Hydei fruit flies and crickets.  All feeder insects should be dusted with supplements.

Sexing: Female Reed Frogs are larger than the males.  Finn's Frog Farms sells unsexed juvenile frogs, least three months out of the water.

Color/Pattern: Starry Night Reed Frogs are black with yellow or white spots.  The number of yellow or white can vary greatly from each frog.  The size of the sports are different on each frog.  Males are darker in color and may lack pattern.

Social Behavior: These frogs do well housed in groups provided there is enough space.  Finn's Frog Farm strongly recommends against housing different species/morphs of frogs.
